16 Unexpected Organic Matter Textures
Hey there, if you're new here, you may wanna grab the RSS feed for fresh stuff as soon as it's up. Enjoy your stay.
Unexpected organic matter textures — because the most tactile elements of our surroundings always come from the living, breathing world.
After last week’s static, structured geometric patterns, we’re doing a full 180 with 16 beautifully uneven and imperfect textures from the living world. As usual, zip-pack download link at the bottom.
You’re browsing in quick-glance gallery view — click the post permalink for a larger view of the textures, more detail on each, and to download the full-size version of individual ones if you don’t want the whole pack.
First up, the underside of a ficus leaf. Looks almost painted, but it’s completely in-camera:
Next, the gorgeous skin of an organic melon from Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market:
…and another view of it. These two are easily my favorite texture out of everything I’ve ever shot.
And here’s some errie-colored lichen from the bark of a pine tree in Bulgaria:
Grass after a spring shower:
A real honeycomb from an Amish oranic honey farm:
…and a different view:
Some more of that ficus leaf:
…and one last angle:
The skin of a different melon at Trader Joe’s:
More skin, this time grilled wild-caught salmon:
A rained-on grapevine leaf from a Nappa Valley vineyard:
…and its super-macro underside:
The frosty top of a blueberry pie:
…and some fresh wild blueberries:
Last up, a living reminder of summer fleeting into fall:

Wonderful textures! Thanks for sharing
Nice focusing work on these images. They look great, particularly the melons.
Thanks Lori. One of the rare occasions when someone says they like my melons and is not being the least big vulgar hehe…
In all seriousness though – glad you dig them, those were particularly tough shots as it was all completely impromptu in artificial indoor light and I had no tripod or steady support whatsoever.
